What is Applications DBA


An Application Database Administrator is one who not only takes care of administrating the Oracle Database (9i, 10g) but also administers the Oracle Applications (11i / R12) . Thus the responsibility of an Applications Database Administrator is wider in scope as he is more than a regular DBA. An Application Database Administrator has to know the administrating the Oracle Database plus he has to know the administration of the Oracle Applications .


What is Oracle Applications


Oracle Applications is the E-Business Suite provided by Oracle. The latest version of Oracle Applications is Release 12 . Oracle Applications consists of two things One Oracle Database and second the Application software. The two when combined makes Oracle Applications or Oracle E-Business Suite as a whole. Thus the architecture of Oracle Applications is three tier. One tier consists of the database, second the middle tier consists of the application tier and the third the client desktop
