Oliver Chen

Oliver Chen (born 1978) is an Taiwanese-American retail analyst and industry expert. He currently serves as Managing director and senior equity research analyst at Cowen.
Early life and education
Chen stems from a Taiwanese family, his father was a political scientist and activist. The family owned a brassware store. He graduated with a bachelor of science in business administration from Georgetown University and subsequently obtained a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
During his time at Wharton, Chen received the Jay H. Baker Retail Award for impact in retailing and co-founded the Wharton Retail Club. He was recognized in the Wharton School’s “40 Under 40” brightest stars alumni list in 2017.
Chen is also a CFA charterholder.
In 2015, Chen represented the National University of Singapore for the World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report. In 2014, Chen joined Cowen.

Chen is considered an industry expert and is frequently featured in various news outlets and is invited as a speaker and panelist at key industry events.
He was recognized a top analyst on the 2018 and 2017 Institutional Investor All-America Research team and in 2019, was selected as a preeminent retail influencer and named on the National Retail Federation (NRF) Foundation’s “2019 List of People Shaping Retail’s Future.”<ref name":0" /><ref name":1" />
