The Bridge to Sri Lanka (Adam's Bridge) was a bridge constructed by the warriors, citizens, and animals in Hindu mythology in the times of the Ramayana. (Note: Mention of this mythical bridge in the article Sri Lanka). In Hindu mythology, this bridge was constructed due to the fact that the king demon Ravana, from the island of Lanka (Sri Lanka) had captured Rama's love, Sita, and was holding her captive in the depths of his kingdom. As Hanuman, the king of monkeys, jumped across the water to Lanka, he requested that Ravana release Sita from his kingdom. But Ravana wouldn't budge, so he tried to capture Hanuman, and attempted to light his tail on fire, but the god himself grew bigger and mightier. Once he broke free from the ropes, he flew across Lanka burning up the Kingdom, and went back to Bharat. After the bridge was built of mere rocks, and ground, they went to the island and fought a mighty battle, which the amazing king Rama won, taking Sita back to his Kingdom. Over the years, the bridge sunk to the bottom of the bottom after hit by a cyclone in 1480 B.C.E, but can be geologically seen from the satellites over the Earth.
