The Oakwood Residence Sukhumvit Thonglor Bangkok, is a mixed-use restaurant and hotel located in Sukhumvit 55, Wattana District, Bangkok Thailand. It houses the Thonglor home of the 4th Oakwood serviced residences in Bangkok (others are located in Sukhumvit 18, Sukhumvit 24 and Bangna), 4 Garcons French Brasserie and double storey basement parking. The building is developed and owned by Fifty Five Properties Company Limited. During construction phase, the name used for the building was J Project.
Originally planned to be a 7-storey building, it was finally approved to have 8 floors above ground with a roof top recreation area.
Location
The building is located facing Thonglor Soi 13 and the rear-side along J Avenue Street, in the heart of Thonglor central business district. Its strategic location makes the only Oakwood Residence fully serviced apartments ideal for expatriates working and dealing with the vibrant Thonglor market. It is also a few blocks away from numerous shopping malls, Villa Supermarket, banks, McDonald, BTS Skytrain, entertainment venue like Witches Tavern, Maya, To Die For, Woodstock Pub, etc. There are several highly regarded free standing restaurant nearby serving cuisine of Japanese, Indian, Californian, Italian and Thai.
Project Team
The Oakwood Residence was conceptualized and master-planned by architects contracted by Fifty Five Co Ltd and Oakwood Asia Pacific. The team also were involved in conceptually design with guidance with Oakwood Technical Group from Singapore. The façade and interior design concepts were made in collaboration and approved by the architectural design director of Fifty Five Properties Corporation Limited.
Building
The property is a 8-storey mixed use building, with 7 floors of premium serviced apartments, 2 floors basement parking levels and lobby area. The ground floor lobby area front entrance leased a French Brasserie while the back entrance connect directly to the commercial distric to J Avenue. The premium serviced apartments will be operated by international company Oakwood Asia Pacific.
There is an adjacent plot of land next to the connection of the building and J Avenue planned for another project building extension. Fifty Five Property also owned the same land.
Construction
The excavation works for the building started in 2006, and structural works started by 2007. The building was topped off on November 2008, and was completed by the April of 2009. The building, together with its main tenant, the Oakwood Residence, had its soft launching on 1 May 2009, and was formally opened on the same month.
