NuvoSonic

NuvoSonic was a company based in Bedford, New Hampshire, USA. It made a diver-detector sonar system tradenamed "SeaScout", which had swimmer detection, underwater hailing by voice, and non-lethal deterrent. It used a sonar system called Parametric Port Security Sonar System (P2S3), which used a narrow-beam sound technology called Parametric Array Sonic Echo Ranging (PASER, which was a tradename abandoned in 2004).
It claimed to be able to detect divers at distances up to 2 kilometers = 1.24 miles.
NuvoSonic developed several products:-
* To secure a large area around objects surrounded by water.
* Sonar barriers to monitor choke points.
* Distributed acoustic barrier systems.
* Smaller sensors for scanning the underside of tankers, cruise ships, and other surface vessels.
* Small sensors that can be carried by a diver or by an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), e.g. by a patrol diver looking for submerged unauthorized divers.
By December 2013 evidence arose that this firm had ceased trading:
* The websites http://NuvoSonic.com and http://www.gsnmagazine.com/may_05/underwater_security.html had disappeared.
* The domain http://NuvoSonic.com was up for sale.
* This link said that the tradename SeaScout was abandoned
