Novak Velimirov Mrdak

Novak Velimirov Mrdak, Duke of Sjenica (1776-1852) was a famous revolutionary leader and voivode who participated in the First Serbian Uprising and Second Serbian Uprising at the beginning of the 19th century.
The First Serbian Uprising
The uprising of the Serbs in the Belgrade pashalik and the surrounding six nahijas against the Turks in the period from 15 February 1804 to 7 October 1813. It started as a rebellion against the dahije. The insurgents led by Karadjordje managed to liberate the pashalik in a significant time interval. This uprising preceded the Second Serbian Uprising of 1815, which eventually led to the creation of the Principality of Serbia by .
Another Serbian uprising
The second Serbian uprising represents the second phase of the Serbian revolution (according to some historians, the third, if the revolutionary activities include the Hadži-Prodan's rebellion of 1814) against the Ottoman Empire, which broke out shortly after the end of the First Serbian Uprising. The second Serbian uprising led to Serbian autonomy within the Ottoman Empire and the establishment of the Principality of Serbia, which had its own assembly, constitution and ruling dynasty.
