NoooN was a French group in the PC demoscene. They are currently inactive. Known for the technical prowess of its members and the quality of their productions, NoooN won the Assembly '95 demo compo with the demonstration Stars which remains a reference for many members of the scene. Coded entirely in assembler, like the majority of the other productions of the group, with fast speed on Pentium PCs of the time, Stars contained a famous sequence with a bee in 3D and a message affirming that 23806 polygons were displayed. Such a value was impressive, but it actually had fewer faces and an environment mapping effect which gave an illusion of smoothness. Many effects were new, in particular a 3D face appearing starting from a plane surface and a torus reflected in an environment map.
