Nirvana Nokuthula Nokwe-Mseleku (born 17 July 1996), is a South African born actress, singer, songwriter, producer, photographer and filmmaker. Multitalented Nirvana professionally started in the music industry as a vocalist, for ad jingles and movie soundtracks, at the age of four. She's worked with legends such as Hugh Masekela, Busi Mhlongo, Shaluza Max, Marilyn Nokwe, Alan Lazar and many more. She then paused her blossoming vocal career for a while and her focus naturally drifted to being on screen. Her debut role was 'Sonia Mkhize' in the short film directed by Beathur Mgoza Baker titled "The Manicurist" 2014 starring Luthuli Dlamini and Wanda Baloyi which later showed on SABC 1. She then landed the role of 'Strange' on Discovery Asia's edutainment show called Quarx. Then later another role on local South African soapie Generations as Angela's former high school friend and business partner. Now, Nirvana is working on her EP called Xhulu, the musical story of a kasi/suburban girl with a dream far beyond the stars. Featured on this EP, is her debut single G63. Early Life Nirvana was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, the only child of legendary Kwa-Zulu Natal born artists Tu Nokwe (Pampatha from Shaka Zulu) and Bheki Mseleku. Although the only child of the pair, she is the last of 9 children from her father. Nirvana's childhood was like no other, having a family of musicians, actors, singers, visionaries, songwriters and performers, she grew up pretty much in studios, on stages, overseas, and on the road constantly moving. Her grandmother and grandfather from her Mother's side Patty Kantukhona Nokwe - opera singer and actress, and Alfred D. Nokwe - actor; musician & model made the Nokwe home to be one of arts and culture - grooming the next generation of artists and entertainers. Nirvana was exposed to many stages and performance opportunities at a very young age. She's danced, sung and acted on many stages across the world such as in Norway, Finland, Maputo, Mozambique, etc. She started her vocal career at the age of 4 when she was requested to sing amongst legend Busi Mhlongo. From then on, her Aunt Marilyn Nokwe became her agent in voice over, jingle and soundtrack work. Raised primarily by her mother and aunt, Nirvana started travelling with her mother at a very young age - 4 months old to be exact. She attended attended St. James Preparatory School of Philosophy - quiet an esoteric institution in its nature as they studied the sanskrit language as well the teachings of Plato, Hermes and others alike. Nirvana's parents were very much spiritual and open minded, mindsets far beyond their time - practising yoga, meditating, being vegetarian and reading books such as the Bhagavad Gita. Their lives together were quiet liberal. Nirvana's father passed when she was 12-years-old. She's since written many songs about him yet to be released.
