Nine Sons Of Dan

Nine Sons Of Dan is an Australian Rock band originating from Coffs Harbour, New South Wales.
History
In late 2007, drummer Morgan Blake (aka Flakey) played for Coffs Harbour band Inadakwit when their drummer could not make a show. The band featured Californian-born Jay Bainbridge as lead vocalist and Alex Pundyk on lead guitar. After moving to the Gold Coast, Queensland in 2008 to pursue a degree in music production, Flakey needed a band to record as part of university studies; and as Alex had also travelled north to study Marine Biology at the same university (they were also roommates), Bainbridge was suggested as a singer to be part of the recording project, as his band Inadakwit was no more.
The three began recording demos without a name, with ex-Inadakwit bassist Duncan McRae performing bass guitar. The band performed one show as part of a band competition, back in Coffs Harbour.
The name Nine Sons Of Dan was given to the band, suggested by Pundyk and Flakey's roommate at the time, in reference to the group of friends they had.
This led the band to meet Daniel Cox, a judge of the competition on the night. It was soon suggested that Cox travel to Queensland to record with the band on their current project.
After his first appearance on the band's tracks in mid 2008, Cox was immediately ushered into the band.
During late 2010, long-time friend of Cox, Wil Edgar was invited to perform bass for the band for some smaller shows. Edgar had moved to the Gold Coast for work, previously from Grafton, NSW where he met Cox during their TAFE studies.
Before the end of 2010 Edgar was made an official member of the band, fully taking over bass guitar duties, leaving Bainbridge to focus on his singing.
In 2010 the band were dubbed "the next big thing" by Gold Coast radio station 102.9 Hot Tomato, after beating 200 bands in the stations 'Uncovered' competition. Later that year the band won a spot on the annual Open Arms Festival in Coffs Harbour.
Since their inception, the band have also supported Kisschasy, Blue Juice and British India.
In 2010, Nine Sons Of Dan entered the recording studio with producer Matthew Bartlem (Dead Letter Circus, Sunk Loto, Avalon Drive) behind the helm. The result being the band's debut EP Landslide which was released in November 2010.
The EP has spawned two singles for the band "Cities" and "She's So Fine" (featuring Paramore guitarist Justin York). The accompanying video clip for "She's So Fine" features a cameo by Miss Universe Australia's Jesinta Campbell and has already been added to playlists on ABC's RAGE and Network Ten's Video Hits.
In 2011, Nine Sons Of Dan inked a management deal with Brisbane-based artist management company AAA Entertainment.
The band are extremely well known for their live shows being described by FasterLouder.com.au as having "both the on stage personas and musical talent to make anyone want to forget all pretences and just dance along"
In January 2011, the band were invited to perform at Australia's largest music festival The Big Day Out on the Gold Coast.
Adding to an already substantial list of achievements, Nine Sons Of Dan played to their biggest crowd to date in March 2011, opening for the Broncos Vs Titans match at Skilled Park on the Gold Coast to 20,000 people.
