Nigina Amonqulova

Nigina Amonqulova (, born January 30, 1986) is a Tajik folk music singer.
Biography
Nigina Amonqulova was born in Panjakent, a city in Western Tajikistan. Initially aspiring to become a doctor, she later decided to undertake the career path of a singer after performing a song at a school-leaving party to much applause.
Amonqulova moved to Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, and began to perform traditional Tajik folk songs. At Dushanbe, she took part in a music festival and took the first place. Her style of singing, unlike the pop music prevalent in the country, led her to be known throughout the country. She revived various old folk songs, which had long been forgotten in the country, which led to her gaining even more popularity than she had beforehand. Notable qualities of her style include the tone of her voice, which is described as soft and loving, and the bright Tajik national costumes she wears.
She also performed in New York.
