Nick Besler

Nick Besler (born May 7, 1993) is an American soccer player who currently plays for the Portland Timbers in Major League Soccer.
Professional
Besler was drafted No. 5 in the first round to the Portland Timbers in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft.
College
Besler played college soccer at the University of Notre Dame, playing in 72 games, starting in all 59 that he played during his sophomore, junior and senior years. During his time with Notre Dame, he scored 2 goals and gave 5 assists. In 2012 he was part of the All-Big East Third Team. In 2013 he was part of the NCAA All-Tournament Team; NSCAA All-South Atlantic Region First Team as well as the All-ACC First Team for both 2013
and 2014.
In 2014 he was part of the NSCAA All-America Second Team. In 2013 he helped Notre Dame win the NCAA championship, where he is credited with an assist.
Personal
Belser is the younger brother of United States men's national soccer team defender Matt Besler who also played for University of Notre Dame.
