Nial Ring

Nial Ring FCCA, B.A, L.I.B, DIP, F.S Law, P.C was born on the 9th of may, 1959 to Dermot Ring and Pauline Confrey. He grew up in Ballybough in Dublin. He is a Businessman with interests in many irish and international companies. Among these are the companies Great western mining and C-ads.
Education
He attended several dublin schools before he graduated in Accounting & Finance (BA) from Dublin City University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Certified Accountants (FCCA), a Licenciate of the Institute of Bankers in Ireland, and was also awarded the diploma in Financial Services Law from University College Dublin. He is also a qualified Mediator.
Business interests and employment
He has a background in the financial services industry in Dublin, London and New York with both Allied Irish Bank plc and Bankgesellschaft, Berlin. In 1992 he set up Barrick Capital Corporation, the IFSC based subsidiary of Barrick Gold, and was General Manager of this company from 1992 to 1995. He is now involved in several start-up companies both as an investor and in advisory/consultancy roles.
I.D.A
He was a government appointed Director of IDA Ireland and was Chairman of its Investment Committee and was a former Chairman of its Audit & Finance Committee.
Current business
He is currently involved in several energy and natural commodity companies including Great Western Mining and Nighthawks plc.
He also part owns a pub near Croke Park and has many other business interests.
Politics and service to community
He is Chairman of the North Wall Community Training Centre, a board member of The Employment Network and NEDSCI.
He is on the board of management of St Laurence O'Tooles and O'Connells schools.
He is also a member of the DDDA's flagship 21 group.
Personal life
Coming from a military background,(His four great uncles all fought in the GPO in 1916 and his father, Dermot was a commandant) he joined the FCA, E-coy 20th batalion (all irish speaking)and rose to the level of Sergeant before leaving in the 1980s. He has been married to Joyce since 1990 and together they have 4 sons. They live in Clontarf, Dublin.
