House League Divisions
Learn To Play
This newly introduced program teaches the fundamental skills needed to play the game to children aged 4 to 6, through interactive games that build teamwork and skills. This division plays once a week with each team rotating through a series of stations teaching different aspects of the game.
5 Pitch
In this division the players aged 7 to 8, are introduced to the structure of the game. Players get to field and bat. The coaches also have a lot to do during a game. Not only does the coach pitch to their players while they bat but they also stand in the field with their players teaching them how to play each position.
Mite Squirt
For players age 9 to 12. Unlike the previous two divisions this division is separated for boys and girls. This is also where players are introduced to pitching. Players will have the opportunity to learn how to pitch as well learn to hit off a pitcher. While the coaches are still their to teach the players, they are not allowed on the field with them while the game is in progress. They can instruct the players from the bench.
Novice Bantam
The is a girls division for players age 13 to 16. At this level their are no new elements being added, however there are new rules for the players to learn such as "infield fly". This is when there are runners on first and second and possibly third, there are less than 2 out, when the batter hits the ball and it is popped up into the air and will not leave the infield. The Umpire yells "Infield fly the batter is out if fair." So whether or not the ball is caught the batter is out and it is up to the discretion of the players on base if they run when it is safe to do so.
Pee Wee
This is a boys division for players age 13 to 16. Just like the Novice Bantam division for the girls there are no new elements and they play by the same rules. This division plays in a loop with surrounding areas.
Ladies
For women 17 years of age and up. In this division the distance between home plate and the pitchers mound is the only significant change. All the rules learned in the previous divisions still apply. At this level it is about putting it all together and playing the game. Each team still has a coach that is there to help players learn the game as well as direct them when running the bases.
Men
For men 17 years of age and up. Like the Ladies division the distances have changed but overall the rules are still the same. This division unlike the Pee Wee division does not play in a loop and therefore only plays within Newmarket.
