New Rising Sons

New Rising Sons was an American emo/post-hardcore/indie rock band founded by former Texas Is The Reason vocalist/guitarist/frontman Garrett Klahn, singer/songwriter Kevin McGinnis, and Into Another drummer Drew Thomas in 1997. They disbanded in 2000, shortly after having their debut record shelved indefinitely and being dropped from Virgin Records. Though the band only officially released two EPs through indie label grapeOS before breaking up, they had an outsize influence on the New York City post-hardcore and indie rock sound and scene of the late ’90s and early 2000's.
Via 73 Films is currently producing a documentary film about the band and their legacy called New Rising Sons: The Band that Never Was, directed by Olivia Serafini-Sauli.
