Near future in television

There are some significant scheduled events, debuts, and proposed series in the near future in television. As of now, the near future is composed of the years 2011, 2012, and 2013.

2011
Scheduled events
* April 2: CBS soap opera As the World Turns (a sister show to soap opera Guiding Light) celebrates its 55th Anniversary.
* July 24: Analog television broadcasts will cease in Japan.
* August 31: Canada will switch off its analogue television signals and transmit only digital television signals.
2012
Scheduled events
* March 23: CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful celebrates its 25th Anniversary.
* July 27 - August 12: The events of the 2012 Summer Olympics will be broadcast worldwide..
* The United Kingdom will complete a 5-year process to cease analogue television broadcasts region-by-region, with Meridian Broadcasting, ITV London, Tyne Tees Television and UTV being the last areas to switch off analogue.
2013
