The belt buckle pistol was an experimental German World War II firearm consisting of four .32 ACP or .22 Short barrels and lockwork concealed within a SS belt buckle. The barrels were long and smoothbore. A lever was pressed which allowed the spring-loaded buckle to pivot downwards, exposing the barrel. Nazi Germany The Nazi SS marked belt buckle .22 LR pistols were invented and designed by Louis Marquis, who originally came up with this concept while interned in a WWI POW camp. As both an engineer and an inventor, Marquis refined his original design, and in 1943, reportedly received an order to make several examples for Heinrich Himmler and Adolf Hitler to be used by high ranking SS officers in case they were captured. |
