Natural Home Economics is when you use natural ingredients to create products at home and utilize them for income. Natural home economics is accomplished with natural ingredients such as herbs, spices, fruits, and essential oils. The term "Natural Home Economics" was coined by writer and author Sandra K. Bouie.
The vision of Natural Home Economics started in 2009 when the American economy begin to slowly erode and many people began to create businesses right out of their own homes. A return back to simpler times, of product creation, is at the very root of Natural Home Economics. A short definition of "economics" according to Webster's Dictionary is:
…development, production, management of material wealth, as of a country,
household, or business enterprise; matters of finance, relating for necessities of life.
Science that deals with the production, distribution and consumption of commodities.
A study of ancient history shows decedents living on farms, some in the desert, while others took refuge in the mountains and hills. All of lived off the land, growing and harvesting goods and then selling products in the marketplace. They worked to create products right out of their home. Long ago, people used simple home economics to survive, learning to grow a product, and then sell it in the marketplace.
While most American citizens only view "Home Economics" as the junior high classes taught in schools, teaching them about cooking, sewing, baking, and printing, Home Economics have come a long way to include many different businesses and ventures.
