Nationwide Diesel Technologies Inc. is a business owned and operated by Peter Sawyer Sr. Nationwide has been operating since 1968 and has always been a family owned and operated school. They train individuals to become part of a qualified and confident workforce. It is located at 125 Washington Highway, Smithfield, RI.
Nationwide Diesel Tech is a seven-day-a-week training facility. It provides students with a flexible training schedule which can be structured and adapted to their busy lives. Students may opt to take all or part of their training during weekdays, weeknights or weekends. Nationwide is the first school in the area to use a driving simulator, a computer generated and realistic driver training aid which safely exposes trainees to all driving and operating conditions prior to hands-on driving.
The Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (RIEDC) announced that Nationwide Diesel Technologies, Inc (NDT) has been awarded a $225,000 loan by the agency’s Small Business Loan Fund. The financing will enable NDT, which operates a technical training facility in Smithfield, to open the Trades Training Center of Rhode Island, a new training center in Quonset/Davisville and hire additional employees. RIEDC granted the loan in recognition of the value proposition NDT brings to Rhode Island, offering nationally recognized training curriculums. Several employers in the Quonset/Davisville area, including Electric Boat, Senesco and others, have voiced their interest and intent to collaborate with NDT on the creation of custom tailored programs specific to their business needs. This will reduce training time and costs, allowing employers to expand their talent pool by hiring ready-to-work NDT graduates.

Class A and Class B Commercial Driver's Licenses (CDL's),
Customized Tractor Trailer Training,
Additional Tractor Trailer Training Driving Loaded Trailers,
Welder Certification Programs (AWS Compliant),
Diesel Mechanic Training,
and Automobile Driver Training - RI and MA.
Nationwide Diesel Technologies Inc. is also the parent school of the Trades Training Center of Rhode Island, located at 112 Dillabur Avenue, North Kingstown, RI. TTCRI provide entry-level to advanced, nationally-recognized,certified training in the building, construction and transportation
industries. It opened in the Spring of 2010.
Strategically located, TTCRI also partners with the business community, creating customized programs that create solutions in the problem areas of turnover, growth or the need for on-going training. These programs reduce training costs, increase productivity and relieve companies of the cost burden of in-house programs. The training programs TTCRI offers enables workforce re-entry for the unemployed, the under-employed and returning armed services personnel.
Congressman Jim Langevin announced his re-election campaign for Representative of Rhode Island’s Second Congressional District, choosing the newly opened Trades Training Center (TTC) of Rhode Island in the Quonset Business Park as the venue.“My first job is to create jobs, to get our economy back on track,”Langevin said. Kicking off his candidacy at the TTC illustrated Langevin’s commitment to creating employment opportunities for Rhode Islanders. The center, which opened at its North Kingstown location last week, offers nationally certified entry-level training in the building, construction andtransportation industries.“I’m excited to be announcing my bid for re-election at a place that is teaching people the skills they need to excel in the building trades industry, and will help grow our economy in the coming months and years,”Langevin said in a press release.
