National Lion Day in the United States of America, is June 7th. First instigated to help combat concerns over the near endangerment of African lions. Support groups such as Born Free USA support the campaign to protect lions and to raise awareness about the seriousness of this possible endangerment. On this day the campaign asks people to change their social network theme to a lion, such as profile picture or status. A major concern of these campaign groups is the growing human population and migration into the natural habitat of lions. The mission of those who support the National Lion Day campaign is to tell the world about this concern.
