Nano-Nano Pudding

is a fictional character and one of the protagonists of the dating sim/ strategy game series Galaxy Angel. She debuts in Galaxy Angel II: Zettai Ryouiki no Tobira (2006), the first of the sequels to the original Galaxy Angel game trilogy.

Her personal color is sky blue. In battle, she pilots the new Emblem Frame "First Aider", which is also the only Emblem Frame to have TWO special attacks, which can be switched at any time. These are Repair Wave, a healing special similar to the Harvester's (Vanilla's Frame), and an offensive special called Needle Flechette.

Appearances

Prior to the release of the Galaxy Angel II game on 22 June 2006, Nano-Nano was among the new characters to be announced by Broccoli. Her voice was first heard on 2 CDs released shortly before the game's release date. The first contained her image songs and a short message from Nano herself. The second was a duet CD with her 'mommy' Vanilla H which featured two duets, two question and answer sessions and a mini-drama.

She is one of the first of the new Angel Troupe encountered in the game, and often acts as comic relief (sometimes by accident). She is considered the little sister of the group.

Besides the game, she is also a major character of the ongoing Galaxy Angel II manga and in the currently airing Galaxy Angelrune- Galaxy Angel II, an anime based on GAII.

Characteristics

Nano-Nano Pudding sports light blue hair, as well as a long white tail, and rather narrow pupils. At first glance, she appears to be a catgirl, which isn't entirely that inaccurate, given her playful, kitten-like personality.

Like her name suggests, she is in fact a living piece of lost technology and a Nano-machine generator. This gives her the ability to interact with them in much the same way as Vanilla H, who she refers to as "Mommy" because it was Vanilla who first discovered her on the Planet Pico.

She also has the ability to heal like Vanilla, and it seems that her white tail has the strongest source of nano-machines. She tends to end her sentences with "nano da".

Personality

Nano-Nano is for the most part a very cheerful, lively girl. A playful, innocent character, she is beloved by the Luxiole's crew and nearly always has a smile on her face.

She is interested in medicine, probably due to her healing powers and the influence of Vanilla H, her adopted mother. As such, she is most often found in the ship's medbay either assisting ship doctor Morden or taking care of the facility while he is on his rounds.

Like her Mama before her, she sometimes pushes herself too hard and at one point of the game collapses from exhausting her supply of nano-machines (unwittingly following in Vanilla's footsteps, as she fainted in the first Galaxy Angel game as well). Unlike Vanilla, she is a very emotional person and easily shows her feelings.

Her innocence is at times the source of comic relief. At one point of the game, she and Kazuya play doctor as she examines him. To Kazuya's horror and embarrassment, she quite innocently asks him to now be the doctor and she the patient. The problems begin when she asks him to examine her chest and even offers to undress, prompting the easily-flustered captain of the Angel Troupe to blurt out a farewell and flee the room. Puzzled, Nano-Nano then wonders what got into him.

Trivia

* Despite physically appearing to be (and acting like) the youngest of the Angel Troupe members, Nano-Nano could possibly be hundreds of years old as she was kept in suspended animation in a facility dating to before the Chrono Quake.

* As part of her catgirl theme, Nano-Nano's eye-catch portrait has her hands raised in a cat's paw manner. Her swimsuit has a tiger pattern, and she playfully roars at Kazuya.

* If she has to, she can use her tail as a fifth limb. She can control it with enough dexterity to key in commands with it while her hands are busy elsewhere.

* Nano-Nano's route is notable for being surprisingly graphic, and for the first time has a member of the Angel troupe die in battle.

* Nano-Nano looks up to Anise since Anise saved her life. Since she considers Anise a space pirate (despite Anise's protests), she refers to her as 'Oyabun' ('Boss').

* Nano-Nano's last name and appearance resembles Pudding Fong (Kiki Benjamin) from Tokyo Mew Mew (Mew Mew Power), who also tends to tag on "nano da" at the end of her sentences.

If chosen by Kazuya

At a point of the game, while the Luxiole undergoes repairs and resupply the Rune Angel Troupe are given leave on the resort planet Hokkori. Takuto gives Kazuya a specialty pass that gives the bearer free run of the pace. The wily commander, knowing full well the power of an Angel in love, bades him to sort out his feelings for his teammates and decide who the one he loves is.

If the player spent time developing Nano-Nano and Kazuya's friendship, she will be one of the three Angel Troupe members to invite Kazuya to the resort planet.

When Kazuya arrives at Nano-Nano's room, the young girl is busy flipping through swimsuit catalogues, explaining that once she finds one she likes she can use her nanomachines to create a duplicate. She happily invites him to help her pick one out before they depart.

The two enjoy themselves on the beach, until Nano-Nano notices Kazuya staring at a couple of shapely beauties. Suddenly feeling self-conscious, she uses her nanomachines to disguise herself as "Nagisa", a very curvy figure she believes is the kind of girl Kazuya would like. In reality, Kazuya was only staring at the two girls because he thought they resembled Forte and Lily. Kazuya eventually sees through the disguise and convinces Nano-Nano she is fine the way she is.

Shortly thereafter, during what is apparently a simple attack on an enemy recon fleet, the First Aider is damaged by a still-functioning autogun on a shipwreck. In desperation, Kazuya detaches Brave Heart and attacks the ship, destroying it. However, a final shot from the autogun strikes Brave Heart through the cockpit. A helpless Nano-Nano screams Kazuya's name as the other Angels arrive.

Tact personally rushes to the hangar to get Kazuya out of his damaged ship, but as the engineer unlocks the hatch and begins rising the seat out of the ship Tact screams at her to stop. Tragically, the one shot that penetrated Brave Heart's cockpit severed Kazuya's right arm, killing him. Tact attempts to stop the Angels from approaching, wanting to spare them the sight of Kazuya's bloodied corpse, but Nano-Nano pushes past him and seals herself into the cockpit. Using all of her power, she manages to restore Kazuya's mutilated body and revive him, but disintegrates after tearfully wishing him goodbye. All that is left is her headset.

Kazuya awakens three days later and is haunted by dreams of Nano-Nano speaking to him. A chance encounter with Morden makes him realise they aren't dreams, but attempts by Nano-Nano to revive herself. Since Kazuya's body was restored using Nano-Nano's own nanomachines, he believes that Nano-Nano still exists within him, but as the nanomachines die out she'll eventually be lost for good.

In an attempt to save her, he uses First Aider's Repair Wave to release a colony of nanomachines into the air. The nanomachines manage to latch onto Nano-Nano's headset and restores her body, and Kazuya restores her mind using the nanomachines used to reconstruct his severed arm. The two tearfully embrace as Tact and the others watch.

Later, in unison with Emperor Zeldan of Celdar Kazuya and Nano-Nano's feelings are used to force open a gate to ABSOLUTE, where the enemy commander Pareru has fled with the captive Milfie. With Milfie gone, travel between EDEN and NEUE is impossible as ABSOLUTE (with Milfie as gatekeeper) is the only way between dimensions. This means that people from EDEN, such as Tact and Rico, are essentially stranded without a way home. Using the power of Kazuya and Nano-Nano's feelings, along with that of the Emperor, Tact plans to lead a strike force into ABSOLUTE to rescue Milfie and put an end to Pareru's insurrection.

Something goes wrong, however, and only the Luxiole makes it through the gate. While Forte and the Moon Angel Troupe sneak into the Master Core of ABSOLUTE to rescue Milfie, Tact and the Rune Angels engage Pareru's forces. Pareru reveals his trump card: the Shadow Moon (as opposed to the White Moon that created the Emblem Frames and the Black Moon used by Eonia during his coup d'etat).

Just when all seems lost, the Elle Ciel emerges from the EDEN gate and so the Rune Angel Troupe finally has the opportunity to fight alongside their predecessors the Moon Angels. After a fierce battle with both the Shadow Moon and Pareru's personal flagship, peace is finally restored.

In the epilogue, Vanilla, Nano-Nano and Kazuya go on a picnic together. However, Vanilla is called away by Morden. Nano-Nano decides to take advantage of the fact the two are alone, but just before the two kiss Vanilla contacts Nano-Nano and instructs her to go to the medical bay for a test. An unhappy Nano-Nano wails as Kazuya smiles sympathetically.
