Nancy Pearlman

Nancy Pearlman (born 1948) is an American broadcaster and environmentalist.
Early life
Nancy Pearlman was born in Huntington, West Virginia, in 1948. She was raised in Orange County, California, in a cabin built in 1957 that was designed by John Lautner and later known as "the Pearlman cabin." Pearlman and her brother participated in programs at the Idyllwild school, and both graduated from Brickerward Preparatory. In 1990, Pearlman told the Los Angeles Times, "In my ecology class, I got wind of the fact that a nationwide Earth Day was being planned, I realized no one was organizing anything here, so I got busy on it. I’m a very good organizer--it’s a natural talent of mine." and has been nominated for an EMMY three times. In recent years, Pearlman's ECONEWS interviews have focused on Azerbaijan, including Azerbaijan's conflict with Armenia over the polluting of the Araz River.
Pearlman also hosts a radio show called 'Environmental Directions with Nancy Pearlman', which began in 1977 She lost re-election for her fifth term in 2017.
Pearlman is also a judge at the 'Angel Cup' Youth Music and Art Festival in Los Angeles .
Honors and Awards
* 1989 - United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Global 500 Laureate
In 2015, her nephew was killed in a U.S. counterterrorism operation.
