Nakala is a British singer-songwriter based in Southsea, UK. Nakala's first single, "Paris" hit #3 on UK Viral Chart. History Nakala began songwriting at age 13. She played the drums and then the euphonium as a child, but increasingly began to play guitar and piano through her school years. In an interview with The Daily Rind, she reported being inspired to write her own music by a YouTube video of Brian McKnight playing and singing at the same time. Nakala has been cosigned by Soulection, Majestic Casual, and BBC 1Xtra and was nominated for "best urban writer" and "best urban act" in the 2018 Unsigned Music Awards. Artistry Nakala describes her genre as R&B, and her influences as Usher, Quincy Jones, Ne-Yo, Mac Ayres and is inspired by artists such as Young M.A, Tash Sultana and Tiffany Gouch<nowiki/>e. Her Spotify biography says she "often writes about her relationship experiences and takes pride in being part of the LGBTQ community." She works with producer Bradley Baker for most of her tracks. She has additionally collaborated with instrumentalist Scottie Thompson, producer Jonah Stevens, and Dom McAllister. Brad Baker and Jonah Steven report being influenced by the likes of Frank Ocean and Bryson Tiller. She was featured on Ayelle's "Actor," also produced by Baker.
