Myxer (pronounced mixer) is an internet technology company that delivers free, ad-supported content such as ringtones, wallpapers, videos and games to mobile phones. The service has more than 13 million users worldwide. The Deerfield Beach, Florida company was founded in 2005 by former Citrix employees Myk Willis, Scott Kinnear and Bill Madden. Myxer currently has over 40 employees.
According to the company’s website, Myxer is the "largest and fastest-growing place for mobile content today." The service provides technologies for content storage and mobile delivery for artists and musicians; items from their catalog can be sent to mobile phones via the company’s website, web-based widgets, and text codes.
Myxer has also distributed promotional mobile content for such companies as Starbucks, Ford Motor Company, McDonald’s, the U.S. Army and Lowe's. Most recently, the company has helped promote such media properties as the CW television drama 90210, and films such as the comedy The Rocker, and action-horror movies Hellboy II: The Golden Army and Lost Boys: The Tribe.
The company has received some industry accolades, being named a "Key Market Enabler in U.S. Mobile Advertising" from Frost & Sullivan in May 2008, "Best Music Service" at the 2008 Mobile Entertainment Forum, and "Best Consumer Messaging Application" at the Global Messaging Awards 2008.
