Synopsis
The book covers the author's experiences as a medic serving in several wars and the training the author endured. The book covers the specific operations both training, real world and combat operations in which the author has served. In the book, Thibeault describes how he served with the well-storied 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (also known as "The Nighstalkers") as a medic in the 3rd Battalion of the organization. He also writes about his first combat missions with the 160th during Desert Storm in 1990-1991 and about being a soldier on a part-time basis in the National Guard and his training and combat operations. Thibeault also served in Operation Enduring Freedom with Task Force Phoenix and was embedded as a medical trainer with the task force while training and fighting with the Afghanistan National Army.
Reception
Kirkus Reviews wrote that the timeline was "difficult to follow" but praised Thibeault's candor.
