MoPacino Music

Mohammad Samir Mustafa (born August 13, 1982), better known by his stage name of MoPacino (mo pa chi no), is an Arab-American hip hop recording artist and songwriter. Mopacino was born in Detroit, Michigan, but he currently resides in Cleveland, Ohio. He was signed by Associate Records in 2004, and he has released five mix tapes as of 2014. Mopacino’s biggest hit song to date, “South Beach Miami,” was released in 2012. The hip hop artist has collaborated with some notable people in the industry, including Layzie Bone, who is well known for his work with Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Red Man, Snoop Dogg and Method Man.
Early life
Mopacino’s family left Detroit, Michigan, when the future artist was only six years old. His family settled in the West Side of Cleveland, Ohio, and he began showcasing his interest in music at a very young age. It was common for Mopacino to use the pots and pans in the family kitchen to create reggae beats, and this continued until he made the decision to get serious about music at the age of 15. His earliest creations were politically driven, but he has since abandoned this for a more fun, laid back approach.
Career
*2004-2008: Mopacino was signed by indie label Associate Records in 2004, and he quickly began performing at local Cleveland area shows. The artist introduced his signature phrase, “huuuuh,” during these early performances. After selling out at clubs and various other venues in Cleveland, Mopacino began selling his first mix tape, “Beast from the East” in May 2005. This release went on to sell 20,000 copies locally, and it became the most successful locally produced and sold record in Cleveland’s history to be sold on the streets instead of in retail stores. This level of buzz caught the attention of New York DJ Kayslay, who is often referred to as the most popular DJ in New York. DJ Kayslay hosted Mopacino’s second mix tape, “Lyrical Warfare,” and it was released in June 2008. Mopacino was also nominated by the Ohio Hip Hop Awards for “Best New Artist” and “Best Live Performance” in 2007 and 2008.
*2009-2010: Mopacino built on his growing success by releasing “The Underground King” in July 2009. In 2010, he was featured on the “Til Dawn” track by Jotace 1 El Poeta & Supurb.
*2011-2012: The single “South Beach Miami” became Mopacino’s biggest hit to date after it was released in 2012. This was the same year that the artist recorded “No Doubt about It” with Layzie Bone.
*2013-Present: The hip hop performer and songwriter has released two mix tapes since 2013. The first one, entitled “Soul Hop,” came out in July 2013. Mopacino followed this up in April 2014 with his fifth release, “The Underground King Volume 2.” “Soul Hop” gained Mopacino a large social media following, and he currently has more than 38,000 followers on Facebook. Associate Records has announced that Mopacino’s sixth album, “Above Ground,” will be released in 2015, and the artist is collaborating with award-winning performer Corey Bapes.
