Mood and Anxiety Research and Treatment Program

The University of Pennsylvania's Mood and Anxiety Research and Treatment Program is a specialty group of the University's Department of Psychiatry (School of Medicine). It focuses on researching and treating psychological mood and anxiety disorders through psycho-pharmacology.
The program was founded by Karl Rickels, M.D. over 30 years ago. The center is funded by numerous private corporations in the form of clinical trials from such companies as Eli Lilly & Co., Otsuka Pharmaceuticals, and Forest Laboratories. The center also relies on public grant funding from institutions such as the National Institute of Mental Health. The center also houses the newly created Behavioral Sleep Medicine Program under the leadership of Michael Perlis, Ph.D.
