Monster Kid Radio is an award-nominated podcast focusing on classic horror and monster movies. History At the 2013 H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival and CthulhuCon in Portland, OR, writer Derek M. Koch announced the pending launch of Monster Kid Radio. At Wonder Northwest 2013, Episode #001 was recorded in front of a live audience on May 26, 2013. The following Tuesday, May 28, 2013, this debut episode was released. Format Every episode of Monster Kid Radio typically opens with a surf music song before Derek introduces the show. (Occasionally, something other than surf music is used to open an episode. For example, when Monster Kid Radio recorded from a screening of Las momias de Guanajuato, the show was opened with the song "El Santo - The Silver Masked Avenger" by The Nick Atoms.) Most episodes feature a discussion with a guest about a specific classic fantasy, science fiction, or horror film. The show concludes with the same music that opened the episode. Frequency Monster Kid Radio normally releases two new episodes a week (Tuesday and Thursday).
