Monroe Hodder is an American artist best known for her abstract oil paintings. Work Associated with the Bay Area Painting Movements, Hodder’s work juxtaposes geometric forms with expressionism and color field painting, inspired by personal experience. Her work has been exhibited internationally in galleries, major art fairs and private collections. Her work is in museum collections, including the Denver Art Museum, San Jose Msueum of Art, Portland Museum of Art, Palo Alto Art Museum, and the Kasteev Art Museum in Almaty Kazakhstan. Background She has been featured in media outlets including Wall Street International, UK, ArtNews on PBS, San Francisco Chronicle, ArtWeek, The Art Voice, Culver City Times, San Jose Mercury News, Sacramento Union, Rocky Mountain News, Colorado Homes and Lifestyles and The Portland Mercury. She also serves as a speaker at seminars and events. Hodder received an MFA in painting at San Francisco Art Institute under the instruction of Elizabeth Murray, Manuel Neri and Bob Collescott. She also holds an MBA from Stanford University, studied painting at the Art Students League of New York and has a BA from Vassar College. She resides in New York City and Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
