Mondi Fashion

MONDI is a fashion brand first started in Munich, Germany by Herwig Zahm and Otto Bruestle in 1967. During the past four decades, MONDI has been consistently ranked as one of the premium brand in German and European fashion. It has introduced many original initiatives and design ideas like the coordinated “head to toe” approach in the 1970s and the broad shoulder female suit jackets in the 1980s. Among all things, MONDI is well known for its knitwear collections ever since the brand’s first launch.

Investcorp purchased the brand in 1993 and lead MONDI to its peak in the late 1990s with millions of marketing budgets and many point of sales in all major North American and European cities. Unfortunately, excessive fluctuations in the management and design teams took MONDI to its downfall in 1999. Fehmi Chama who has been an agent for MONDI during the past fifteen years took over the brand and all inventories. He reassembled the once successful MONDI design team and worked out various product lines like fragrance with a full body care line, and men’s collection. After working courageously for several years, Fehmi Chama decided to give up the brand due to the conflict of interest with his role as an agent for other competing brands. In addition, the economic growth in European markets had been sluggish for past years.

Dennis Li, acquired the global ownership of MONDI trademark in March of 2005. An extensive end-to-end experience in the fashion industry and a deep understanding of the Asian market were the main reasons for Dennis Li’s successful acquisition.

Two new offices are established after the acquisition:
MONDI Distribution Ltd. in Hong Kong and MONDI International GmbH in Germany.
