Origin & Background Molina Cigar Company was founded in May 2007 in Pensacola, Florida. The privately-held company was founded by Luis Roberto Molina. Molina Cigar imports and distributes handmade cigars in the United States. The company's founder has smoked cigars since he was sixteen and has worked in the industry since graduating the University of Notre Dame in 2003. The company has roots in New Orleans, Louisiana which has a storied history with the handmade cigar.
The company owns several cigar brands but its first is Devil's Weed. The brand was created to honor tobacco, the plant, the cigar and the smokers who enjoy the handmade cigar even in the face of contempt of non-smokers. The brand's slogan, "For tabaco is not a tool of the devil, but God's great gift to all of us," reminds the smoker that tobacco is not an evil plant but a natural and legal product. The Spanish Inquisition coined the term "devil's weed" for tobacco and the present-day feelings towards tobacco are reminiscent of this sentiment.
