Mohd Shafiq Abdullah

Dato' Sri Mohd Shafiq bin Abdullah is a former civil servant who served as Director-General of Public Service.
Background and education
Mohd Shafiq was born in 1964. He holds a Bachelor of Political Science (Hons) degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a Masters in Public Administration from Meiji University, Japan.
Civil Service
Mohd Shafiq began his civil career on 1 December 1992 as Assistant Secretary in the Protocol (Ceremonies) Division, Prime Minister's Department. He later became Secretary of Development and Privatisation Division of the Ministry of Public Works. On 16 February 2015, Mohd Shafiq served as Deputy Secretary General (Development) of the Ministry of Public Works. Six months later on 26 August 2015, he served as Deputy Secretary General (Finance) of the Ministry of Health. On 17 June 2019, Mohd Shafiq was reassigned as Deputy Secretary-General (Management) of the Ministry of Health. On 10 February 2021, he was promoted to Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health. A year later, on 10 February 2022, he assumed the post of Director General of Public Service. On 12 December 2022, he has been terminated with immediate effect for reasons of public interest. However the next day, Mohd Shafiq stated that he will take legal action on those who involved in termination of his service.
Controversy
On 3 August 2022, Mohd Shafiq Abdullah was reported berated at the immigration officer on duty in public because no officers were stationed at the VIP room's counter when the officers arrived.
