Mitrice Richardson is a 24 year old woman who disappeared on September 17, 2009 after being arrested for failing to pay her $89 dollar bill at an upscale restaurant in Malibu, CA called Geoffrey's. Employees of the restaurant contacted the sheriff due to her inability to pay the bill and her reported erratic behavior. She was transported to the LASD Lost Hills substation in Agoura Hills. A few hours after she was arrested, around 1 am. she was released into the darkness of the night, and she has not been seen or heard from since then, although there were some reported sightings of her in the early morning hours from residents who reported that a woman matching her description was either sleeping on their porch or roaming on their property. The area that she was reportedly seen is home to rugged terrain. This case is controversial due to concerns over her mental state at the time of her release, and because she was released at night far from her home in an unfamiliar area. There is a 25,000 dollar reward being offered for information that leads to finding her.
