Biography
Mini Thin (born Jason Mallas) is an American rapper from West Virginia. He has also founded Hillbilly Murda Records and White Trash INC. Clothing line. Jason Mallas was born in Hancock County, West Virginia and raised in Weirton, West Virginia. His family grew from the humble beginning of Kings Creek Trailer Park and worked hard to reach the lower middle class in West Virginia. He entered a major battle in Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania. The battle was put on by BET Televsion's Big Tigger and 50 MC's later he was crowned the champion. After that, he won every major battle that came through the metro Pittsburgh area from 2003-2005. He has won Jay Z's Roc-A-Fella Records MC battle championship in front of 25,000 fans with over 350 MC's competing from all over the country. He also has won the Sprite Summer Jam MC battle and the MTV regional battle. He competed in Skribble Jam the largest and most respected MC battle in the world and has also won a handful of smaller battles. In his early years, he was most noted for dissing 50 cent live on stage, while battling another MC and getting thrown out of the concert while still winning the championship.
After the smoke cleared from the MC battle fame, Mini Thin was put off with Hip Hop music due the promises that major labels had made him but never made good on. He then put the microphone down for a few years and emerged back on the scene in 2008, retired from battling and with his own record label and orginal WV style and sound. In 2009 Mini Thin released The Calm Before The Storm EP digitally and it exploded in sales throughout his region. His debut full length album Hillbilly Hustle is due out in 2010 and is highly anticpated in WV, KY, TN, MI, IN, OH, PA, NC, TX and many other states. Mini Thin secured distribution for his label through Hot Topic and Long Range. He also writes screen plays with his manager Jake Mays, trains Mixed Martial Arts and has done some modeling.
Mini Thin has performed with and shared the stage with the likes of 50 cent, G-Unit, Missy Elliott, Jay-Z, Freeway, Beanie Seagal, Fabolous, Busta Rhymes, D.J. Whoo Kid, Nas, DMX, Lil Kim, Mobb Deep, Jadakiss, Ron Noodles, Pittsburgh Slim, Dos Noun, Mac Lethal & Wiz Khalifa.
Styles and Influences
Mini Thin's music is a mix of southern hip hop, country rap, battle rap with some horrorcore roots. He is a lyricist, yet makes songs that capture the soul and represent his home sate of West Virginia. Some of his musical influences include: Hank Williams Jr., 2pac, Toby Keith and Esham.
