Mihai grunfeld

Mihai Grunfeld (Cluj Romania, 1949) is a writer and Hispanist, Professor of Spanish and Latin American Literature at Vassar College.
Biography
Mihai Grunfeld was born in Cluj, Romania, where he lived with his parents until he was 18 years old. On February 1969, Grunfeld and his older brother traveled to Czechoslovakia and from there fled to Austria. This was the beginning of a long trip that led them to Israel, Italy, Swizz and Canada, completing his studies at Universities in Toronto (Canada), Ann Arbor in Michigan and Berkeley in California. He currently resides in the United States, where he is a professor of Spanish and Latin American literature at Vassar College in New York . A big fan of travel, he has managed to integrate the knowledge acquired during his travels to Mexico, South America and Spain to his writings and his teaching on the relationship between literature and Latin America art and the Mexican mural art. He has written an Anthology of Latin-American poetry of vanguard, 1916-1935, (Hyperion, 1996) and numerous articles on Modernism. As a fiction writer, he is the author of several short stories and an autobiographical novel, Irse. Memorias de Rumanìa (Editorial Pretexts, 2011).
