Background
Mickey started Tae Kwon Do training in the early 60’s under "Blood and Guts Karate" legend Allen Steen, becoming his fourth Black Belt. After receiving his Black Belt from the Jhoon Goo Rhee, Mickey went on to earn Black Belts in Qkinawan Kenpo under Ed Parker as well as Black Belt ranking in Japanese Shorin-Ryu. Armed with this formal training in traditional martial arts, coupled with his constant refinement of new techniques, Mickey founded Karate Shin-Toshi.
Karate Shin-Toshi
The underlying philosophy of the system embraces that of Budo and Bushido - The spirit of the Samauri. Shin-Toshi is a hybrid of Korean, Japanese, Okinawan, and Chinese martial arts. The name is a construct of the Chinese/Japanese/Korean word "Shin",which means "new way," and the Old English word "Tosher" meaning "unaffiliated with any other style." It combines the straight lines and kicking techniques of Korean Tae Kwon Do, the circular movements of Chinese Kenpo and Kung Fu, the power-redirection of Judo and Aikido/Hopkido, and the snapping kicks and strong stances of Japanese Karate-do. The Shin-Toshi practitioner is able to perform effectively in both competitive and self-defense situations, while maintaining excellent flexibility, stamina, and mental and physical health. Since its inception in the mid-60’s, Karate Shin-Toshi has evolved and incorporated fundamentals of most every major martial art, including Bo-Jitsu (Asian weapons).

Mickey Fisher was one of the countries’ first competitors and dazzled audiences and fellow karateka alike with his astonishing jump kicks that he improvised and adapted to combat.
