Michiel Leijnse

Michiel Leijnse is a Dutch marketeer who works for the Anglo-Dutch multinational consumer goods company Unilever. He has global marketing responsibility for the Lipton tea brand. He has been responsible for leading Lipton's move into sustainable agriculture through a partnership with the Rainforest Alliance.
Career
Leijnse was educated in the Netherlands and holds degrees in Business and in Communication.
He has been working for Unilever since 1995. He held various marketing roles for a number of the company's brands, including Ben & Jerry's, for whom he worked in Vermont. He was responsible for launching the world's first Fairtrade certified ice cream, Ben & Jerry's Fairtrade Vanilla.
Leijnse was recruited by Lipton specifically to use the experience gained at Ben & Jerry's to transform the tea brand's sustainability initiative. Under Leijnse's leadership, the company was the first major tea brand to announce certification of all its products , with the intention 'to move the whole market'
In 2008 Leijnse appeared in the TV Documentary 'The Bitter Taste of Tea'
