Mic Little (born Michael Johnson on March 23, 1994 in South Central, Los Angeles, California) is an African-American singer who is the youngest artist at age 12 to be signed to hip-hop record label Def Jam.
Biography
Mic Little began displaying his vocal abilities at real early at church and coming from a long line in a musical tree which includes Charlie Wilson of the Gap Band and gospel singer Daryl Coley Little pursed his singing career at the guidance of his parents who did everything in their power to keep their young son out of any trouble that perhaps would have found him in his South Central neighborhood.
Record deal
Little got on the path to signing his Def Jam record breaking deal via the help of cousin T-Low from R&B trio Next who could not fail to notice Mic Little's promise.T-Low used his industry connections to bring his young talented cousin to the attention of , a producer and writer. Millsap's list of previous clients include Alicia Keys, Brandy and Mary J. Blige. After Milshap and Mic met one another they began work on a demo and it was here that he noticed Little's falsetto voice was shockingly similar to that of legendary Michael Jackson at the height of his Jackson 5 days. So thus in turn soon influenced the young upcoming singer to switch from his birth name, Michael Johnson, to Lil Mike however this did not stick and was eventually changed to his current stage name of Mic Little. With the demo in toe, word got out to Def Jam bosses L.A. Reid and Jay-Z and it was not long until they both requested a showcase. Mic Little did not hestate and jumped on a plane to perform in person. At the showcase Def Jam offered him a contract there and then. "Put It In A Letter," is Mic Little scheduled debut single and fellow Def Jam artist Ne-Yo is featured on the track.
