MemoQ

memoQ is a translation environment tool created by Kilgray translation technologies which contains a number of features to enhance the translation process for both translators and project managers, it contains features such as on-the-fly alignment, two way translation memories, term bases, corpora, and quality assurance checks. The memoQ environment can be used as a standalone program accessing translation memories and term bases on a local computer, or it can be used as a client/server setup in conjunction with the memoQ server platform where translation projects are hosted online.
The memoQ client program comes in a number of different editions, 4free, translator standard, translator pro and project manager. The 4free edition is the most basic version of memoQ and is activated after a 45 day trial of the translator edition of the program expires, it contains very limited functionality and is intended as an introduction to the environment. Translator standard is available through an annual subscription and is the edition aimed at translators who use memoQ to work with projects sent from other CAT tools or translation environments, they are able to import these projects to translate within memoQ and then return the projects in their original format. Translator standard does lack some of the more advanced features of memoQ such as 101% matches and the ability to connect to memoQ servers. Translator pro contains all the translator features of the program and requires the purchase of a licence from the Kilgray webshop. The project manager edition has the ability to create memoQ projects for distribution to translators and can also perform several memoQ server functions such as creating users and assigning licences, this edition of the program is suited more for larger enterprise installations or language service providers.
Supported file formats
Apart from Office formats, MemoQ can process any XML-based formats, including .inx (Adobe InDesign) and .mif (Adobe Framemaker).
This program was initiated by the Hungarian firm Kilgray.
