Melchior Wakenstede is a fictional character created by Indrek Hargla, and is the main protagonist of Hargla's Melchior the Apothecary () book series. He is a pharmacist who solves crimes in medieval Tallinn. He first appeared in the book Apothecary Melchior and the Mystery of St Olaf's Church, which was released in 2010 and translated to English in 2016. Melchior books have been translated into Finnish, Hungarian, French, German, and English. Film adaptations In the film adaptions he is played by Märten Metsaviir. The first film in the series premiered in April 2022 and the second one in the August of the same year.
