Mehdi Abeid is an Algerian footballer who currently plays at Newcastle United F.C.. The Highly rated defensive midfielder has represented the France under 17's and 18's and signed his first professional contract at Newcastle. Despite having been part of the Lens Academy the 18 year old never signed a professional contract with the club, In May 2011 he was given a Newcastle United trial and impressed. He has since signed with Newcastle United. Mehdi has played 17 Matches for both U17 and U18 Level and has 2 goals. He has yet to represent France at International Level and is eligible to play for France or Algeria.
