A megacoaster is any roller coaster that has a lift hill and/or first drop that is at least 200 but less than 300 feet high. A coaster between 300 and 400 feet high is a Gigacoaster, and a coaster at least 400 feet high is a Stratacoaster. The world's first Megacoaster was Magnum XL-200 at Cedar Point. A coaster with a total height difference of at least 200 feet but with no individual ascent or drop of at least 200 feet, such as Tatsu, is not considered a Megacoaster.
The term "Hypercoaster" is also used for this height classification, but its usage is somewhat ambiguous as it also refers to a "style" of coaster that lacks inversions and is designed with speed and airtime (negative G-forces) in mind, which may or may not fit the height classification.
