Medway Mariners

Medway Mariners is a baseball team based in Maidstone, UK.

The club formed in 2002 and entered a team into the British Baseball Federation's Southern league.
Following some tough, but valuable, learning experiences the decision was made to join the Friendly League. Founded and organised by the Old Timers Baseball Club, the Friendly League's intention is a means for new teams to find their feet before choosing to participate in a BaseballSoftballUK (BSUK) affiliated league. Teams involved in the past have included the Southend Peers, the Tonbridge Bobcats and the hosting Old Timers.

In 2004 the Medway Mariners played their first season of Friendly League baseball which proved to be an exciting and valuable experience for all involved. From winning their first ever game to establishing a core of talent across all activities.

2005 saw the team experience a break-out campaign losing only one game over the entire season and established themselves as a dominant force in the Friendly League. The Mariners continued this success in 2006 with a program of team development, ground improvements and some great results on the diamond. The club also came to the attention of the UK baseball scene by putting on a first class show at the premier UK baseball tournament in Croydon, finishing in joint 3rd place.

In 2007 the Mariners entered the British Baseball Division 2, and launched a second team - The Submariners - which continues to compete in the Old Timers Friendly League as a development opportunity for the less experienced players. And the success continued, with the Mariners being crowned Division 2 Champions with a perfect played ten, won ten record.

For 2008, the Mariners are playing in the BBF AA division. Details of player try-out dates and fixtures can be found on the club website.

Medway Mariners Baseball Club remains Kent's only BSUK affiliated team.
