Meagan McGrath

Meagan McGrath was born in Toronto in 1977 and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. She enrolled in the Canadian Forces in 1995, and graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in 2000, with a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry).
Since 2002, McGrath has climbed many peaks throughout the world. In May 2007, McGrath summitted Mount Everest, achieving her goal to climb the Seven Summits - the highest peak on each continent.
She climbed Australia's Mount Kosciuszko (2,228 m) in 2006, Antarctica's Vinson Massif (4,897 m) in 2004 and Alaska's McKinley (6,194 m) in 2003.
McGrath, 29, was honoured in Nepal for rescuing a woman on Mount Everest.<ref name="Meagan3" />
McGrath was given permission by the Canadian Air Force to take unpaid leave to embark on her dual aim of reaching the South Pole and then climbing the world's five highest peaks in a single season (spring 2010), i.e. Lhotse, K2, Broad Peak, Cho Oyu and Shishapangma. Still counting? That will mean scaling five mountains during the summer of 2010.<ref name="Meagan1" /> McGrath, now 32, is the youngest Canadian female to scale the "Seven Summits." <ref name="Meagan3"/>
