Matthew Jason Brown

Matthew Jason Brown (born 11 April 1986, Grimsby, England) is a Labour politician in the United Kingdom. He lives in Cleethorpes.
Before politics
Matthew attended Bursar Primary School, The Lindsey School and Community Arts College during his school days. Following completion of his GCSE's Matthew attended the Cleethorpes 6th Form. Matthew then studied at the University of Hull.
University
Brown attended the University of Hull Scarborough Campus from 2005 until 2008. Matthew attained a 2:1 in Business and Management. In 2009 until 2010 Matthew went back to the University of Hull, this time at the main campus to study for a Master of Degree in Globalisation and Governance. Matthew Graduated from this on 28 January 2011 with a Pass.
Hull University Union
In the February elections of 2010 Matthew successfully contested the role of for Hull University Union. Upon taking office on the 1st July 2010, Brown conducted a full governance restructure at the Scarborough Campus to ensure the Union performed more effectively in its task of representing students to the University.
During his time Matthew also lead a delegation to London to take part in the National Union of Students demonstration against the coalition governments proposals on higher education on 10 November 2010. In the December Brown and other Sabbatical Officers from Hull University Union lobbied Members of Parliament to vote against the coalition governments proposals to increase tuition fees.
Brown retained his role in the elections of 2011 with a majority of 29 votes, and is the first person to be for two terms. Brown is due to leave the role in July 2012.
North East Lincolnshire Council
On 6 May 2010 Brown was elected to North East Lincolnshire Council in the role of Councillor for the Croft Baker Ward in Cleethorpes. The council is a Unitary Authority in the Yorkshire and Humber Region. Brown won against a former Liberal Democrat Mayor and the then current Portfolio Holder for Tourism.
