A Master Title Deed is a kind of deed poll used to change ones personal title. It is becoming increasingly common in several juristictions countries including but not limited to the UK, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, New Zealand, the USA, Hong Kong and Singapore as a standard assertion to an individual's bank or similar of the right to use a title other than Mr, Mrs, Ms or Miss, such as Doctor or Professor. The Master Title Deed is sometimes known as a "change of name and title deed" and this one document can combine the two options of name change AND title change if required, although a Master Title Deed is more commonly used just for title change alone. In order to get a Master Title Deed drawn up, most institutions will require proof of your right to use the title before they will produce the documents. If you wish to change your name (not your title) then a deed of change of name document (in those jurisdictions which use this system) must be used, as a Master Title Deed usually strictly relates only to a title change, not a name change.
