Mark L. Roberts

Mark Lloyd Roberts (born May 18, 1984) is a writer, musician and retired commercial producer and actor. He is best known for his time with Carolina TV Now, and his work in a controversial 2007 HeinzKetchup commercial.

Early Life
The last of four sons, Mark grew up in the small rural area of Carvers Bay, South Carolina. As an avid television fan, he often went against the grain of farm work and sports to watch TV or write his own stories. In 1992, at the age of 8, his short comedic story "This Man's Son" would be both critically and publicly acclaimed as "a revelation of youth writing." It was while attending Pleasant Hill High School that Mark got a taste for Journalism. He wrote for the school paper, and hosted as the comedic weatherman on the school news program, often having such special guests as the Easter Bunny and an Alien.
Patriots On Air
Mark dropped into obscurity for several years following his appearances on Pleasant Hill High News. He attended Francis Marion University from 2003 through 2006 in search of a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications. There he would re-emerge as once again a writer and comedian. He would write several front-page news articles for The Weekly Observer in Hemingway SC, and in 2005 he became a leading writer, producer and talent for the university news program Patriots on Air. He achieved a small amount of fame in the Low-Country and slowly started his own brand of news with a spin of comedy. During this time he interviewed several political figures of the area, and most famously Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish.
Carolina TV Now
Mark decisively took a break from journalism and was said to be "very disappointed" with the way the "Lunch-room scandal" took place. For more than a year he retreated once again to his home in the Carolina Countryside. It was in March of 2007; however, that he took a job as a producer and writer for Carolina TV Now. It seemed that Mark's comedic potential and writing abilities had finally found a home in the cable channel. Throughout his time he wrote and produced commercials for companies like Volkswagen, Honda and Pupparazzi. Though obviously able at this line of work, it was his creative writing that made Mark a sought-after talent. Such skits as "Jeff Martin Sings the Hits" and "Chef Mark's Cooking Moment" once again landed the budding actor and writer into local stardom. The stardom would be short-lived as in January 2009, Carolina TV Now failed as a company due to the mismanagement of its owners.
The Present
In April 2009 Mark Roberts announced his retirement from producing and acting. He is currently living in Pawleys Island SC.
