Mark Gerhard

Mark Gerhard is the current CEO of Jagex Ltd. He first joined Jagex in February 2008, moving from the GTECH Corporation where he had served as Principal Security Architect for the National Lottery. Prior to being assigned the job as CEO, he was the Chief Technical Officer for Jagex.
Upon gaining the position, Gerhard stated in an announcement on the RuneScape website that he wished Jagex to be more open with its customers than the company had been previously; he also reinforced the fact that RuneScape is also aimed at adults, despite admitting that it had been "dumbed down" in some areas recently. In an interview, Gerhard stated that "the real average age is 16. And there's this perception that there's 8 year old boys playing the game and it's mad."
Gerhard has also talked of plans for Jagex to expand their products to consoles. "The challenge for us was if we could write a software package...for the 360, Wii and PS3. This was in fact one of my first primary aims when joining Jagex, and we discovered that the answer was yes, we can put our code on consoles."
