Club career
Duthie played for Edina Hibs and Hutchison Vale as a youth, but earned a move to Meadowbank Thistle in 1991. He was a member of the side when the club moved to the new town of Livingston in 1995. He played Livi's first ever game, a 2-0 Scottish League Cup win over Montrose at Links Park on 5 August 1995. The midfielder made 136 appearances, scoring 15 goals for Meadowbank Thistle and Livingston.
The midfielder left Livi and joined Ayr United in 1997. However he spent a large part of his time with the Honest Men out on loan. He made eight appearances and scored two goals for Alloa. He left his parent club in 1999 after making 17 appearances and scoring twice.
Duthie then headed north to sign for Ross County. He was only to last one season and was again on the move after turning out 24 times for the Staggies.
He found appearances hard to come by at the Wee Rangers, and made a total of 18 appearances, scoring three goals for the club. The last of his goals for Berwick Rangers, and his last in professional football, was in a 2-1 defeat to Cowdenbeath on 11 August 2001.
Duthie had a brief return to Stair Park with Stranraer before moving into the junior leagues. He had spells with Arniston Rangers and Preston Athletic before retiring in 2011.
