Maristela Tayoko (born 1967) is a Brazilian painter famous for depicting Japanese and Brazilian themes. She was born in the small village of Juquiá in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, graduated from high school, and studied architecture. After working as a successful architect, Tayoko became a full time artist, painting Japanese and Brazilian themes. Presently she lives in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Tayoko's mother was a direct descendant of Japanese immigrants who had moved to Brazil before World War II in 1931 for economic reasons. Her father on the other hand came from a Brazilian family that had founded Juquiá.
