Mario Torres-Marín

Mario Torres-Marin was a prosecutor for the Puerto Rico Department of Justice who died on December 20, 2010 during a drug-war operation when a UH-72 Lakota on the Puerto Rico National Guard in which he was being transported to supervise several arrests on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico crashed during severe weather north of Rio Grande, Puerto Rico.
Prior to his appointment to that post by Governor Sila Calderon and confirmation by the Senate of Puerto Rico, Torres Marín, a prosecutor with seven years of experience, was the President of the Association of Prosecutors and an active officer of the Organized Crime division.
Governor Luis Fortuño declared three days of official mourning after Torres, another prosecutor and four National Guardsman perished in the crash.
